Gomez - The most powerful of the Ore Barons, leader of the Old Camp, and considered the most powerful man in the Colony.
Personality and traits[]
Gomez is known as a greedy, power hungry and impulsive man. Easily angered and upset, which in most situations is followed with violence and aggression. When a situation is critical, he loses control over himself and becomes reckless.
Background[]
He was convicted and sent into the prison colony in Valley of Mines for unknown crimes. When the barrier was being created, he took advantage of the consternation caused by it going out of control and raised a successful revolt against their captors. After the old guards were defeated, a new rule was established, Gomez became an Ore Baron leading a trade with the king, while all those that supported his cause during the revolt were granted a comfortable position in the camp.
Gothic: Der Comic[]
Gomez has a brief appearance in Gothic: Der Comic. He attends a tournament on the arena of the Old Camp, where he beats up a woman which accompanies him.
Gothic[]
Everyone that wishes to join the Old Camp has to undergo a job interview with Gomez and prove themselves a worthy candidate. Should the person in question fail to meet his expectations or simply upsets him, the Ore Baron will call the guards and resort to violence. After the Old Mine collapsed, further trade with the king was no longer possible. Pushed to the wall, he ordered an attack on the Free Mine belonging to the New Camp. This idea was scorned by Corristo and other Fire Mages. They tried to prevent the attack and demanded a settlement with the two other camps. Gomez went mad, and ordered all the Fire Mages to be executed, the only one left alive being Milten, as he was out of the camp at that time. Stone, the blacksmith of the guards was accused of collaborating with the mages, but was spared and thrown into the dungeon instead due to his profession being in high demand, and was let out only when a smith's work was required. Free Mine was successfully taken, but it wasn't long before the New Camp conducted a counter-attack lead by Nameless Hero and Gorn, driving away the invaders and recapturing the mine. Sometime later, the Nameless Hero raids the Old Camp, slaying majority of the guards in the castle and eventually making his way into the house of the Ore Barons, defeating his guards and finally facing the furious leader of the Old Camp, ending his life.
Trivia[]
- In the dialogue script of Gomez there is a commented out line where there Nameless Hero could tell him that he knows Lee, which ends with his aggression.
- If the player attempts to speak to Gomez before passing the Test of Faith, he will be attacked.
- The breastplate on his armor depicts crucifixion.
- He has a golden tooth.
